Export Potential of Tripura and Procedures : 5 Day Programme
IIFT Kolkata recently
conducted a 5-days residential training program titled as “Export Potential
of Tripura and Procedures” for the in-service government officials from
Tripura during December 12-16, 2022. Tripura along with other North-Eastern
states of India have much to gain by leveraging their unique geographic
position to their advantage in terms of geo-politics, geo-economics,
geo-strategy, and human development standpoints. In particular, Tripura
opens up to its bordering country Bangladesh. Strategically, Bangladesh is a
very important country for Tripura as this bordering country which allows
traders to have their physical access to Bangladesh through different land
customs stations (LCS). The recent border trade infrastructure development
at Akhaura, LCS testifies the importance Government of India putting to
achieve intense ‘connectivity’ with Bangladesh. Hence the training program
was conducted to train 15 government officials from the Department of
Handloom and Handicraft Department of Tripura. The program was sponsored by
North Eastern Council.
The program was conducted under the program directorship of Dr. Oindrila Dey
with the support from Dr. K. Rangarajan (Centre-Head, IIFT Kolkata) and Dr.
Gautam Dutta (Head- CeNEST Division).
